Kidnapping: Purpose of ESN defeated, call your boys to order – Guber candidate tells Nnamdi Kanu

The embattled gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga has called out the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu over the incessant kidnapping bedevilling the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The guber candidate in a campaign rally held today at Nsukka said his administration will eradicate kidnapping within six months in office. Edeoga stated that South Easterners now live in fears as many of the youths move around with firearms, constituting nuisances in the streets and engaging in constant kidnapping and often times raping innocent women in their captivity.

Urging the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra to call his boys to order, Edeoga emphasized that the main purpose of establishing ESN (which is to guard the Igbo people against attacks by the Fulani herders) has been totally defeated.

Mr Edeoga, recalled that prior to the establishment of ESN, the SouthEast never witnessed the height of insecurity as it is today. He added that then, stories about kidnapping were barely heard.

The former Commissioner for environment whom many adjudged as incompetence for leaving the state in dirt, prayed that the blood of the innocent people killed by the unknown gunmen shall be on Kanu’s head.

“This is what you get when you do things without proper consultations. If Nnamdi Kanu had involved security experts before setting up Eastern Security Network (ESN), we wouldn’t be paying ransom for kidnapping everyday. These days, no one plies a road without the fear of being kidnapped by these boys who have defeated the purpose of their creation.

“I urge Nnamdi Kanu to speak now from wherever he is and save our land. I believe he still has his influence on them, he should tell them that in Igbo land we have respect for one another. We respect and fight for our blood and not the other way around.

“I am also putting the blame on the feeble-minded governor of Enugu State for not executing all those that are on the death warrants. If we keep treating the issue of criminality with kids gloves, it will keep recurring. Now is the time to use stick theory,” Edeoga added.
