Nsukka Labour Party Rally: We were told Obi would come – Group expresses disappointment

An Nsukka political group under the aegis of the Enugu North Youth Mobilizers has expressed their disaffection over the lies peddled by the Enugu State chapter of Labour Party about Peter Obi coming to Nsukka yesterday for a mega rally.

The campaign rally which was organized yesterday at Nsukka High School witnessed a lot of youths who came out to show their solidarity for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Speaking to our correspondent, the group leader, Comrade Obinna Nnatu confessed that one Chidi Obetta approached them with an envelope containing the sum of N300,000 and appealed that they should come and pay solidarity to Peter Obi at Nsukka High School now known as Anglican Grammar School.

Comrade Obinna, full of rage and disappointment said he could not control his anger when all he could see standing on the podium were Chijioke Edeoga, Okechukwu Ezea, Chidi Obetta whom he never knew was candidate vying to represent the Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South federal constituency under LP, and few other leaders of the party. He said the crowd started reducing immediately the public was told that Peter Obi could not make it to the campaign rally.

“It is very disappointing to use another man to market yourself. How can you deceive the youths of Enugu North? You came to us, praying that we come and pay solidarity to our brother Peter Obi whom you said would be present at the rally.

We came, hoping to see Peter Obi, but you ended up showing us only Edeoga and other failed politicians we know in Enugu North, who sullies his integrity that way? Edeoga who could not clean Enugu environment as the Commissioner for Environment, a man whom after two years in office as a local government Chairman of Isi-Uzo has no single project delivered, a man who after being the presidential aide to President Goodluck Jonathan could not employ one single individual into Federal Civil Service? Is that the man you present to us to be the governor of Enugu State? God forbid! It is time to get rid of politicians like Edeoga out of Nigerian politics. We are supporting Labour Party only at the presidential level,” he stressed, speaking on behalf of the youths.
