Bewitched to Pray Wrong, Edeoga Asks to be Declared the Governor of Rivers State

By Eze Nwamadi, Ogbonna, Asadu and Ezema Igwenunu

When we had in the past written that Edeoga was a victim of Ajijja, a spirit that renders its victim useless, and inflicts them with crass imbecility before doing away with them, his low-witted minions had yelled like a puppy struck with a cudgel by its owner. Aeschylus would say that he whom the gods would kill, they first make mad. The gods seem to have inflicted Edeoga with a brand of madness bothering on desperate overambition and total loss of his mind. He drank to the lees the hemlock of overambition that has in its intoxication benumbed his brain, and left his cranium congealed with frigid brain mater impervious to blood flow. Edeoga no longer reasons wrong, for he does not reason at all.

Chijioke’s affliction began at the point when he took a mindless volt face from his earlier pledge of support to Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah after the PDP gubernatorial primaries held on 25th May, 2022 in which he had participated and got beaten by a wide margin. He score paltry 9 votes against Mbah’s 790 votes. That was where the rains began to beat Edeoga.

Ajjija had like Macbeth greeted him with the all hail Thane of Glamis, all hail Thane of Corwdor and the king that shall he hereafter. Ajjija might have spoken to him through his godfather in-law who packaged his political transition to the inglorious Enugu Labour Party. Ajjija also afflicted him with the hubristic ailment he would like a peacock raise his shoulders in answer to His Excellency, the White Lion, such epithets as have no justifiable ascription to his person. He was carried away by empty praises and sycophantic offerings political layabouts and dregs sedimented at the bottom of the broken wineskin shower on him. So, Edeoga sank deeper into the abyss irretrievably, having incurred the wrath of the gods who debase the proud and exalt the humble.

From this moment, every bit of Edeoga’s steps led him to the shortest route to infamy. He was being cheered into the woods. Beaten at the governorship election, Edeoga wrecked by the Ajjija, took another fatal entrance into the political gallows. Gradually being goaded by the vindictive God, he prayed offbeat to the tribunal priming his petition on the spurious claims to NYSC certificate forgery alleged against Peter Mbah. Edeoga left his claim to over-voting at Nkanu East and concentrated on allegation of certificate forgery, even when he obtained the permission of the tribunal to inspect the BVAS machines used at Nkanu East. He kept on pursuing shadows untill a time when he had few days to close his case. Then it dawned on him he had chased shadows all the while. That was when he resorted to inspect the BVAS machines. There at INEC office, Edeoga and his men in the bid to inspect the BVAS machines were alleged to have tried to tamper with the machines in order to alter their data contents, something that met with the resistance of INEC and the condemnation of 14 political parties that participated in the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Enugu State. If not Ajjija, what else could have driven Edeoga to such fraudulent attempt to alter the contents of the BVAS?

Then Edeoga returned to the tribunal, claiming he was denied access to the machines. He prayed the court to commit the Enugu State INEC Resident Commissioner to prison, a curious prayer turned down by the tribunal. The tribunal rather asked that the BVAS machines be brought to court. Edeoga again goofed in his request for the BVAS machines as he quoted wrong codes to INEC who obliged the court with the BVAS machines Edeoga had requested. Ajjija! The same Edeoga cried foul untill INEC explained to the court that BVAS machines were identified by their codes and that they had brought to court the BVAS machines for which he had requested. Case closed!

But Ajjija was yet through with Chijioke Edeoga. The spirit would mess him up to the lees. Today, at the court for the adoption of final written addresses, Edeoga wrote that he, having scored the highest number of votes cast in the March 18, 2023 governorship election, should be declared the governor of Rivers State. Eleeooo! Nke mmadu ekpoo! Ajjija at work! The gods are not to blame. Ife onye metalu, o bulu.

Edeoga’s written address was riddled with content and grammatical errors, yet his lawyers were SANs. The SANs are also not to blame. The prayers for amendment of the Ajjija-induced error-ridden final written address met with brick walls. Mbah’s lawyers objected to it. Edeoga had all the time to write, examine and amend his so-called weak final written address, but would hobble a piece of thrash to the tribunal, and now seeks amendment, the implication of which is that the respondents would also have to rewrite theirs in response to Edeoga’s amendment, thereby going back and forth, wasting the time of the court.

What then is the relationship between Enugu and Rivers State? Both States are not even in the same geopolitical zone. Where is the morphological affinity between Enugu and Rivers that Edeoga would mistake Enugu for Rivers? Confuse gad’ma as Ndi Nsukka would say. And governor gab’te imi utaba.

The fact is that the Almighty God who anointed Peter Ndubuisi Mbah the Governor of Enugu State is with him. Associate yourselves and be broken into pierces. Gird yourselves, and be broken into pieces. Take coucel together, and it shall come to nought. Speak the word, and it shall not stand because God is with us (Isaiah 8: 9-10). The God of Ndubuisi Mbah has frustrated the token of liars and made diviners mad. Edeoga is completely dismantled, having disgraced himself at the court. Neither his delirium with NYSC, nor his lumbering hallucination into the narrative of BVAS and false claims to over-voting at Nkanu East hold water. Edeoga has danced naked at the marketplace. The political loin is torn off his rude waist, and he is politically wasted.

The tribunal shall communicate the date of judgment to the parties. Predictably, the judgment shall come in October as the tribunal shall likely take one month to write its judgment. On that day, Edeoga shall take further steps into the drumbeat of shame. Even his camp has not helped him at all. They keep on circulating fake news, even at today’s dismal outing at tribunal. What they stand to gain by fake news, only the demon that deceives their principal knows. They claim Olanipekun (SAN), Mbah’s lead lawyer, pleaded for a rerun of the governorship when he rather said that the tribunal could not on its own discretion order a rerun when it was not part of the prayers of the petitioner. In order words, the tribunal is not a father Christmas that would grant that which was not prayed. So, how does that translate to Olanipekun (SAN) asking for a rerun? Rerun of what! Arrant nonsense! The game is over.
