Eccentric Leadership Style: The Unconventional Strategies of Dr. Peter Mbah .

~Hon. Arthur Edeh (NMI).

Eccentric governance differs from traditional governance: Gov. Peter Mbah wouldn’t have made any difference in short a time in governance, if he had followed the old conventional way of governance. Disruptive Innovation is more in doing things outside the old order, doing things differently and achieving greater results.

Below are the several keys of the Mbah’s administration that has set things differently with greater achievements:

  1. Decision-making process: Eccentric governance often involves unique decision-making processes that may not follow established protocols or consult traditional sources of expertise. Decisions may be driven by personal beliefs, intuition, or unorthodox methods.
  2. Policy focus: Gov. Peter Mbah tends to prioritize unconventional policies that break away from conventional approach in governmental policies. This can include implementing novel ideas, experimenting with untested approaches as long as Enugu State is concerned, or championing niche causes that may not be widely supported; e.g his security approach on the Sit At Home syndrome were not supported by all, but he came out with such hurricane approach that swooped the “non state actors” away to the abyss.
  3. Leadership style: Talking about the Governor who have typically associated himself with leaders who have distinctive personalities or idiosyncratic traits; then you should talk about His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah; who have immediately his swearing in as the Governor of Enugu State, employed the services of like-minded personalities, technocrats with entrepreneural and business backgrounds (the Chief Of Staff, Prof. Victor Udeh, and the SSG Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, are two Square Pegs in a square holes). They may exhibit unorthodox behavior, have unconventional communication styles, or display an aura of eccentricity; in all that has set them apart from more traditional leaders who adhere closely to established norms and expectations. The business unusual mantra shouldn’t be overemphasized!
  4. Risk tolerance: Peter Mbah often involves a higher level of risk tolerance, as it embraces innovation and experimental approaches; even with the greater uncertainty and unpredictability in decision-making and policy outcomes; Gov. Peter Mbah has always come out with smiling achievements, that pronounces “light” at the end of every tunnel
  5. Public perception: Eccentric governance can generate mixed public perception. While some may view it as refreshing and dynamic, others may perceive it as erratic or lacking in stability. The deviation from traditional governance norms can engender both praise and criticism, depending on the specific context and outcomes. With this present administration terms and decisions: obviously Ndi Enugu has come to terms and agreement with the Governor’s approach in governance.

It’s imperative to note that the distinction between eccentric and traditional governance is not always clear-cut, as it can vary based on cultural and societal contexts. Ultimately, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah has brought the paradigm shift in governance, that are quite different from the established norms and embraces unconventional practices, that has set Enugu State aside for a robust Economic Development.
